SERENDIPIDITY AWARDS
serendipidity awards
DMT SERENDIPITY AWARDS are intended to fund the testing of an idea which comes from an unexpected clinical or laboratory observation, or from well-grounded practice, with the objective of obtaining 'proof of concept', and providing sufficient evidence to convince other funding bodies to take the idea forward.
These awards are NOT simply another form of pump priming for conventional research projects. The key points for potential SERENDIPITY AWARD applicants to note are that:
- the idea/observation on which the proposal is based MUST be serendipitous in nature;
- evidence of the validity of the idea/observation must be demonstrated.
Unlike all other research funding provided by DMT (which must be related to ageing and older people) SERENDIPITY AWARDS may be in any area of medicine/medical science/health.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AGREEMENT
In certain circumstances, the Trust may make any offer of an Award conditional upon securing an Intellectual Property Agreement for the sharing of any commercial revenues that arise as a result of the funded research work.
