This section provides information on how to apply for grants made available by DMT. Below is a brief summary of each of the grants available. For more information on these, please select the appropriate grant from the menu on the right of this page, or click on the grant heading below.
GENERAL GRANTS
As a general rule, to qualify for consideration applications MUST be for an activity with a focus on older people. There are four categories of award.
- building grants
- equipment grants
- core costs/staffing grants
- small grants, usually under £10k
RESEARCH GRANTS
- Projects and programme grants
- Research related infrastructure costs (i.e. buildings or equipment for specific purposes)
- DMT Research Fellowships, which are awarded in partnership with Royal Colleges and other professional bodies.
SERENDIPITY AWARDS
These awards are intended to fund work to test an idea that comes from an unexpected clinical or laboratory observation, or from well-grounded practice, to obtain proof of concept.
RESEARCH TRAINING FELLOWSHIPS
In Autumn 2009 DMT launched this new scheme to provide training opportunities for talented clinicians, health professionals and scientists who wish to pursue a research career in the fields of ageing, rehabilitation or palliative care. Applications for the 2010 pilot are now closed. Further rounds will be dependent on the evaluation of the outcomes.
